Maureen's Gay Irish Welcome...

1940's Screen Goddess Maureen O'Hara returned to Ireland over the weekend to a very Gay welcome indeed on The Late Late Show when she got caught-up in a Gay Byrne / Graham Norton sandwich...

MAUREEN O'HARA ON THE LATE LATE

When she packed her bags and left Dublin at the tender age of 19 to chase her dreams in the USA no one could have guessed that wide-eyed and raven haired Maureen O'Hara would become one of the darlings of Hollywood's Golden Era.

And at the ripe-old-age of 84 Maureen returned to Dublin to promote her book "Tis Herself" and to accept a lifetime achievement award from the Irish Film Institute.

As one of Hollywood's top leading ladies of her day, and once voted as one of the most beautiful women in the world, Maureen appeared in such classics as How Green Was My Valley, Miracle on 34th Street but is best remembered for her role in The Quiet Man opposite John Wayne.

She also worked with most top movie directors of her day, including Alfred Hitchcock, making her Ireland's most successful actor ever! After the death of her husband, General Charles Blair, she was elected CEO and President of Antilles Airboats which brought her the distinction of being the first woman president of a scheduled airline in the United States.

GRAHAM NORTON ON THE LATE LATE

She has also added fuel to the fire in the Lauren Bacall / Nicole Kidman "legend" dispute by telling the Sunday World "You can't say 'I'm a Legend' when you've worked for two or three years. You have to put in the accomplishments required. Then, good luck and great for you. But one or two movies can't make you a legend."

LISA STANSFIELD ON THE LATE LATE

Graham Norton, Gay Byrne, and Lisa Stansfield also appeared on Pat Kenny's Late Late Show...
