Mumba No1 in Us / Westlife snub MTV awards...

Irish pop princess Samantha Mumba last night was celebrating after reaching the number one spot in the US charts. The 18 year old was overjoyed when she heard the news from manager Louis Walsh that her first single had hit the prime spot in the US. Gotta Tell You had already gone to number 9 then number 2 in the charts before hitting the top spot last night.

Speaking from her Dublin home last night Samantha and mother Barbara had only heard the news from Galen English a reporter from the Evening Herald newspaper who heard the news from the US first.

“We are just shocked and stunned by the news. It just wonderful. It’s like a dream come true for me. It’s only my first single in America and I couldn’t ever have dreamt of this happening.”

Louis Walsh was also celebrating the news last night but added that he had also heard that Westlife were not going to attend the MTV awards in Stockholm tomorrow.

“The record company have just told me that the band won’t be going to Stockholm but otherwise Samantha is overjoyed on her news.”

Sources close to ShowBizIreland.com said last night that Westlife were set to win the MTV award that they were nominated for but that the Irish band would not be attending the awards after not being asked to perform this year.

Sources said “Westlife are going to snub the MTV awards not because they can't win but because they have not been asked to perform after 7 number one’s and they are right.”
